Nuclear Deterrence, Disarmament and Peace
01 September 1988This Statement is the result of a process of discussion and consultation in the Uniting Church, commenced at the 1982 Assembly. A draft statement was presented at the 1985 Assembly and subsequently discussed in parishes and presbyteries. In light of the responses and submissions received the Committee on Social Responsibility and Justice redrafted the Statement for presentation to the May 1988 Assembly. The Assembly referred the Statement to its Standing Committee to deal with on its behalf, and Standing Committee subsequently adopted the Statement.
