01 July 1997We, the members of the 1997 National Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia, are deeply concerned for our nation at this time. Therefore, in response to our understanding of our calling as Christian people and as citizens, we commit ourselves to participate in the building of our nation as one which:
UAICC Response to the Covenanting Statement
01 July 1994When God created the heavens and the earth He gave humankind his habitation and placed him within his bounds. When He did this He gave humankind stewardship over the bounds of his habitation. We are also told in the Bible that when God had finished creating it was good.
Covenanting Statement
01 July 1994We meet in the presence of God who through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has reconciled us to God and to one another in the power of the Holy Spirit. Our unity "transcends cultural, economic, national and racial boundaries". (Basis of Union, Paragraph 2).
Statement to the Nation Australian Bicentennial
07 July 1988In this country which has been inhabited for 40,000 years, the Australian nation is celebrating the Bicentennial of the first European settlement. The Uniting Church, now in its second decade, greets our fellow Australian citizens on this occasion.
